Applying moisturizer on your oily and acne-prone skin doesn’t seem like the most brilliant idea. However, if you really want to get clear skin, it’s something you have to consider.

Believe it or not, skipping moisturizers is probably the reason why your skin is breaking out in the first place.

You see, your skin needs oil and moisture to function properly and to protect itself. Once its natural oils get stripped away, such as when you wash your face or when you’re exposed to cold air, your skin’s balance goes out of whack.

This is where bad things happen.

To compensate and regain its balance, your skin is forced to produce more oil. And when there’s too much oil, your skin becomes more prone to getting clogged.

And you know what else?

Bacteria can easily get attracted to your skin, too. This makes infection and inflammation more likely to happen.

So, what to do?

Find a moisturizer that’s formulated for your skin type. Pay attention to ingredients and stick with those that won’t clog your pores, like hyaluronic acid.

Now, apart from skipping moisturizers, there are actually a lot more acne triggers you need to keep an eye out for. This handy infographic reveals the sneakiest causes of acne.
