Emir Sanusi releases his April salary payslip

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who is under investigation on suspicion of embezzlement has posted details of his salary for April 2017 on social media. The Emir uploaded the information on Tuesday morning, May 2, via his verified Instagram account. 

The pay slip was uploaded with the caption: "Pay slip it is..1,246,875.00 net, against the alleged 12 million monthly by some online publications. "Although during colonial times, the Emir of Kano was the highest paid public office holder in Nigeria.” According to the payslip, Sanusi earned a gross income of N1,312,500 with a deduction of N62,625.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that some Northern elites want the the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, removed after he made a series of comments about the need for social reforms in the north. 

The rumour is sequel to a probe by anti-corruption investigators into the account of the Emir to ascertain whether the monarch mismanaged funds as alleged in some quarters.
