The home side took the lead a little before the half-hour mark, with midfielder Cesc Fabregas slotting past the Everton goalkeeper, after a neat exchange with Alvaro Morata. The summer signing then doubled the West Londoners' lead, with a great header in the 40th minute.

The Toffees never really looked like threatening the Chelsea goal, as Antonio Conte's men saw out the second-half easily to notch up their second win of the season.

Here's how the Chelsea players fared on the day;

Chelsea Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois - 6/10

Never really called into action by an Everton side that rarely looked threatening in attack.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 8/10

Beautiful pass to pick out Morata for the second goal. Solid as always in the backline. Booked late in the game for a foul on Aaron Lennon.

David Luiz - 7/10

Never really under any pressure and as a result was allowed time on the ball to pick his passes, which he did accurately.

Antonio Rudiger - 7/10

Alvaro Morata

A much better display after a poor outing against Tottenham last week, but wasn’t really tested by the opposition.

Victor Moses - 6/10

Defensively solid, got forward well, but the end product wasn't always up to the mark. Booked.

N'Golo Kante - 8/10

Another typical display filled with lung-busting energy. Broke up play, drove his team forward and covered every blade of grass. Dominated the midfield.

Cesc Fabregas - 8/10

Opened the scoring in the 27th minute, with a nice finish. Afforded the space and time to dictate play from the middle of the park. Created a number of chances for his teammates.

Marcos Alonso - 7/10

Wasn’t asked a lot of questions defensively and continued to cause problems going forward with some nice crosses.

Willian - 7/10

Buzzed around the Everton defence with purpose and looked threatening each time he got on the ball.

Alvaro Morata - 8/10

A nuisance for the Toffees backline, playing off their shoulders. Assisted the opener for Fabregas. Doubled the lead with a glancing header.

Pedro – 7.5/10

Chose wrongly to go for the spectacular overhead kick, when there were teammates in better positions. Found spaces to exploit with his running between the line and created a number of chances.

Substitutes

Tiemoue Bakayoko - 7/10

Replaced Pedro with 15 minutes left on the clock. Made a few driving runs forward and had a shot blocked from distance.

Michy Batshuayi - NA

Came on for Morata in the 78th minute.

Andreas Christensen – NA

On for Moses for the final few minutes.
