Stunned by Rent Hike: From N1.2m to N1.8m Overnight

A Nigerian woman named Pinkie Barbie has caused a lot of controversy after complaining about a 50% increase in her rent.

Pinkie disclosed in the widely shared video that when she got home from the market, she discovered a letter from her landlord's attorneys informing her of the increased rent.

Her rent was increased from ?1 million to ?1.8 million, per the letter. Pinkie, on the other hand, denied the claim, claiming that she had been paying 1.2 million naira instead of 1 million, and she questioned the rationale behind the raise.

“So, they have increased my rent today. I just received this letter after returning from the market. They have upped my rent from ?1.2 million to ?1.8 million. Isn't that excessive?

"People are fighting for their lives in Nigeria, which is already difficult enough. What is going on, landlord? Is this not excessive? As she stated in the video.

She also bemoaned the fact that the rent increase was made without any additions or modifications to the property, implying that there was no reason for such a drastic change.

People are already having difficulty surviving. No one is taking anyone into consideration. Everyone wants to murder everyone," she continued.
