Nigerian Army explains reason behind continuing detention of Corporal Amina Maidoki

The Nigerian Army claimed that Corporal Amina Maidoki's ongoing imprisonment was necessary to conduct a thorough investigation into the theft claim made against her and that due process governs all disciplinary actions taken by the Nigerian Army.
According to the DOROTV, Amina Sani Maidoki, a 25-year-old female soldier, was detained when her wife, Salamatu Faruk Yahaya, the wife of former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya (retd), claimed that $50,000 disappeared from her Abuja home.

In a statement, Lt Col Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, stated that Corporal Maidoki continues to receive the proper welfare in accordance with military standards and that an inquiry into the situation is being carried out with the highest regard for her legal and human rights.
"Any claim of wrongful imprisonment or lack of legal representation is completely denied by the Nigerian Army. The statement went on to say, "All such claims are false and are made merely to mislead the public and evoke undue sentiments."
