On Wednesday night, the Super Eagles won the third-place playoff at the 2019 AFCON. Just as it was Nigeria's last match at the tournament, it turns out that outing also marked the start of international retirement for two of the biggest names on the team: Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo was the highest goal scorer in the AFCON qualifiers scoring seven goals in total Odion Ighalo has reportedly called it quits with the Super Eagles shortly after a successful campaign at AFCON 2019.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker is a strong contender for the Golden Boot award after scoring five goals in the tournament.
