Canada's Invitation Snafu: The Tense Visa Drama with Nigeria

It warns of future occurrences.
Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), clarified Wednesday that, in contrast to rumors that circulated after the Canadian Embassy denied visas, the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria were properly invited to Vancouver, Canada, to compete in the recently concluded Invictus Games, which were organized by the Duke of Sussex.
Shortly after receiving injured military soldiers who had taken part in the games, the CDS spoke in Abuja and bemoaned the unfair treatment of Nigerians by certain nations.
Gen. Musa clarified that all pertinent government authorities, including ministries and the National Security Adviser (NSA), were informed and that all proper procedures were followed during the event's planning.

But he made it clear that Nigeria deserved respect and that it would no longer put up with any disrespect from any nation toward its people.
He asserted that "all levels of government must address the issue of the visa denial." For all of us, Nigeria suffices. We met all the conditions, we were invited, we had an agreement, and we received the program.
Members of the Armed Forces never take short cuts, as everyone is aware. We followed the procedure, and everyone was aware of it, including the NSA, the Minister of State, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
However, the majority of the squad members were refused visas for reasons that they are only aware of. Keep in mind that the team captain was unable to go.

The physician wasn't present. There was no physiotherapist present. Visas were refused to everyone who was vital to the team. And why is the question?
"Well, I'm glad the federal government is investigating this matter as well. I think it's critical that everyone realizes that Nigerians are deserving of respect everywhere. Because we are a wonderful country, we must never put up with disrespect from anyone.
"You have made Nigeria proud, our native athletes who are competing. Your bravery and tenacity have made a lasting impression on everyone who has followed your path. You are a true manifestation of the indigenous spirit—unconquered, unbreakable, and unstoppable.”

The CDS made this declaration in order to reassure retired and injured soldiers that the military would not desert them.
He clarified that, contrary to what some had feared, military personnel who have had their hands or legs amputated or who have experienced various types of infirmities will not be ignored.
"Let us remember the sacrifices made by all of our former service members in the line of duty as we celebrate the accomplishments of our team," he said.
"Let's continue to pay tribute to their sacrifices by giving them the assistance they need to succeed in their reintegration back into society.

“For me, as the Chief of Defence Staff, this is a clarion call. Whatever it takes to raise the morale of our troops, we will do it—regardless of the cost—because we know that when troops see how we treat the injured, they will be encouraged to give their best, knowing that if anything happens to them, they will be taken care of.
“I have heard comments from individuals, mostly rooted in ignorance, questioning why we take troops abroad. And I wonder—if they saw those who have sacrificed so much, those who have lost their lives, those who have had their legs and hands amputated—would they still think it is unimportant to care for them?

"Other nations that sent teams did so because they recognize its significance, not merely for show. We should occasionally read carefully in class and let education genuinely mold our comprehension.
