BREAKING: Alleged sexual harassment: Senate passes vote of confidence n Akpabio

The Senate on Thursday voted a vote of confidence in Senate President Godswill Akpabio, amid calls for him to resign so that the sexual harassment claim against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan can be investigated without interference.

Following a proposal by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele that was overwhelmingly supported by senators, the Senate passed a resolution.

In his lead discussion, Bamidele stated that the Senate has made the decision to avoid becoming further sidetracked by the controversy surrounding its decision to suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan due to her alleged wrongdoing.

According to him, the Senate will now concentrate on its duties of oversight and legislation, and the judiciary will be free to decide on any subject that is before it based on the red chamber's acts or inactivity.

When Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the Senate President of sexual harassment, she rejected the suspension, saying it was intended to deny her justice.
