Unveiling the Truth: Tinubu's Influence on Lawmaker Defections
President Bola Tinubu is not pressuring opposition senators to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, according to Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.

During Tuesday's plenary, he made this claim in order to defend the three senators from the Peoples Democratic Party who defected from Kebbi to the All Progressives Congress.

The ruling party "is now running a government of national unity," according to Bamidele.

APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Kebbi Governor Alhaji Nasir Idris, and APC National Organising Secretary Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu were among those present at the Chamber when Bamidele spoke.

Sen. Adamu Aliero of Kebbi Central, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi of Kebbi North, and Sen. Garba Maidoki of Kebbi South are the three defectors.

Their defection, according to Bamidele, was motivated by the overwhelming public interest and had nothing to do with making Nigeria a one-party state.

He asserts that the ruling party will not bar anyone who wants to join from joining.

Similarly, we shall not treat anyone differently based on their religion, tribe, or any other characteristic. We will keep our doors open for new individuals at all levels to join.

We will keep collaborating with the members of the political parties that are in the minority in the interim.

The fact that almost every political party, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Young Progressives Party, must join the ruling APC is not a coincidence.

A minister of state has been kindly nominated and donated to the Federal Government of Nigeria under the APC government by the APGA, despite the fact that it has not joined the ruling party.

"In other words, we are currently operating a government of national unity," he stated.

While considering how the PDP was pressuring members of the opposition parties to join it when it was in power at the federal level, Bamidele especially praised the defectors for their choice to join the current APC.

"All of us were in this country when the PDP was in power," he remarked.

We observed all the things that transpired under the PDP in an attempt to acquire more states, more seats in the Senate, and more members in the House of Representatives.

"We're not at the polling station. There is no coercion going on.

"Sen. Adamu Aliero is most obviously not the person being pressured. We are all aware that the individual who would be co-opted cannot be Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi.

Sen. Garba Maidoki, who worked in the private sector before entering politics, is also not likely to join the APC without a strong reason.

As far as we are concerned, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi, who I know, would prefer to be vocal and in opposition.

"One of the defectors had the honor of serving as Kebbi's governor, specifically from 1999 to 2007."

This is a fantastic step for APC. You may be confident that, in the end, this can only be for Nigeria's grandeur and good if you are closely following political developments.

"To the other members of the minority island, we shall keep collaborating for Nigeria's advancement.

For the hundredth time, I repeat it. We are at a very crucial point in our country's history where everyone must work together, therefore those who call this parliament a rubber stamp parliament should take attention.
