60 Years in Nollywood: Lessons and Hardships by Jide Kosoko

Broke in Nollywood for the past 60 years
According to veteran actor Jide Kosoko, his notoriety and more than 60 years of Nollywood expertise haven't brought him any money.
Kosoko clarified during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast that, although he is comfortable, he does not view himself as wealthy by Nigerian standards.
"I have this much experience in the [movie] industry. Being able to eat three square meals makes me grateful to God. But by Nigerian standards, can I say that I am wealthy? "No," he responded.
The 71-year-old movie legend demanded tougher punishments for pirates and underlined how much piracy had affected the Nigerian film industry.

"In my opinion, the copyright law's penalties for infringement are still insufficiently harsh. How much do you want to fine a billionaire that has been stealing people's works for years?
If you give him N500 million, he will just take it from his sales. However, if you impose a 20-year jail sentence without the possibility of a fine, people will not engage in piracy," he stated.
In 1964, Jide Kosoko made his acting debut as a child in the television series Makanjuola.
Since then, he has appeared in hundreds of Yoruba and English-language Nollywood films.
