How LPV's New Solar Panel Factory is Powering Lagos's Future
LPV Technologies, an indigenous solar energy company, has launched a new solar panel manufacturing plant in Lagos, calling on the Nigerian government implement zero-import policy for solar panels to boost local production.

Nigeria suffers from severe energy poverty due to its low electrification rate of roughly 60%, which makes solar energy a practical way to close the electricity gap, particularly in rural areas.

According to Yinka Adelodun, executive director of LPV Technologies, the company's cutting-edge facility was constructed to address issues facing the renewable energy industry, such as supply chain interruptions and dependence on imported panels.

Executives led a tour of the factory to highlight its capabilities at its recent unveiling, which took place close to the well-known Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun, Lagos, which was established by the late Pastor T.B. Joshua.

As part of a larger effort to implement solar infrastructure on a large scale, the corporation started building the plant over two years ago.

The organization believes that the key to attaining sustainable power generation for the economy is large-scale local production and the integration of solar with other energy sources, such gas.

Adelodun told reporters, "It's one thing to say you have a facility like this; it's another to actually see it and confirm it exists." "The true solution is to use solar and gas to power our economy sustainably, even though many people are just installing solar panels on their roofs as a temporary fix today."

To encourage the use of solar, the government has created laws such as the National Renewable Energy Action Plan and the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policy. International cooperation and public-private partnerships are also promoting solar projects.

According to the CEO, the facility was established to address major problems that the business experienced, like developers placing months-in-ahead orders for panels only to have their shipments delayed by customs or storage problems.

He said, "You can call us and tell us, 'I want five megawatts of solar panels,' and we will make it as needed."

Adelodun emphasized that the company would be able to guarantee that every panel satisfies strict quality standards by managing the supply chain.

Company representatives showed the production process during the site tour, emphasizing sophisticated automation and quality control procedures made to satisfy international standards.

Utilizing PERC technology, LPV Technologies' production process can produce panels in combinations ranging from 550 watts to 720 watts. According to the corporation, it has a 100 megawatt capacity now and intends to increase it as demand increases.

Emmanuel Agboola, the company's head of operations, emphasized LPV Technologies' commitment in cutting-edge technology and strict quality control when he stated, "Our panels are engineered to last over 25 years."

Head of Business Development and Marketing, Juwon Solarin, said the company is expanding its distribution network and inviting more partners to promote locally made solar panels.
