"Adeleke's Ultimatum: Osun Monarchs Must Choose Between Peace and Power

If the traditional leaders of the Ifon, Erin Osun, and Ilobu communities are unable to maintain the current peace and de-escalate the situation in their communities, Governor Ademola Adeleke has threatened harsh state action against them.

Online allegations that some anonymous groups in the conflict areas are preparing new round of attacks prompted the governor to issue the warning.

During the Sallah festivities, I received rumors that certain individuals were preparing for a new wave of fighting in the towns of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun. In a statement signed by his spokeswoman Olawale Rasheed on Monday, Governor Adeleke was cited as saying, "The security agencies have tightened surveillance to ensure no attacks take place."

"Key conflict participants and chieftains are also being questioned by the security services more quickly. I'll remind the towns' top officials that the peace pledges they are signing are serious business. They'll be held responsible. Accountability in front of the law will exist.
