Sydney ranks in Top 5 Time Out Best Cities for Culture"

This outcome is another evidence that Sydney is gradually returning to its peak.
Our nightlife and culture deteriorated over a decade of lockouts and lockdowns, and the heyday of the Sydney Olympics looked like a thing of the past.
Since coming to government two years ago we’ve been battling to bring Sydney back to life, which has entailed eliminating heaps of red tape that was holding back local venues through to huge cultural events.
Our stadium concert caps have been lifted, and our largest stages now feature local support performers.

In addition to supporting our top-notch cultural institutions like the Sydney Opera House, Art Gallery of NSW, and the Australian Museum, we have continued to support amazing events like Vivid Sydney, SXSW Sydney, the Sydney Marathon, the Sydney Festival, the Sydney Fringe, the Sydney Film Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival, and the Sydney Marathon.
Additionally, we have eliminated the 5km rule at clubs, given adults the right to stand up when drinking outside, extended trading hours, encouraged venues to host live music, stopped serial single noise complainants from closing down entertainment venues, and begun implementing Special Entertainment Precincts throughout the state.
But it’s not mission accomplished, the hard work continues, so stay tuned as we rebuild our night-time economy block-by-block neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood.
People often talk down Sydney’s cultural life, and sometimes they’ve had reason to, but that’s changing. I think it’s time to be proud of our city and our state again.
