Why Kano's Political Landscape is Shifting: The Return of Kwankwasiyya Members
Numerous Kwankwasiyya Movement defectors have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who has hailed their move as a "divine step" toward a better political future.

Senator Barau praised the new members at a brief reception in Kano, stating that their choice to join the APC was advantageous and well-timed.

"God leads you down the correct path whenever He wants to make your life better. He added, "I think He brought you into the APC to improve your life."

Barau accused the Kwankwasiyya movement of promoting poverty and uncertainty, drawing a comparison between the APC and the latter. "The party you left is dismantling while the APC is growing," he stated.

He added that many people's involvement with the Kwankwasiyya group has resulted in losses, including loss of wealth, mental health, and life.

Barau called the movement "kwan-kwa-tsiya," which translates to "generating poverty." He asked the new members to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and help the APC build on its victories in Kano and elsewhere.

Local officials, APC stakeholders, and defectors who vowed allegiance to the ruling party attended the reception.
