The moon is moving away from Earth explained
No need to panic please but it is true, the moon is slowly drifting away from earth. The reason for this is simple, the moon is locked around earth in a tight gravitational embrace. But the speed at which the earth rotates affects the moon. The earth is slowing down, and the implication is that the moon will rotate faster around earth. This increase in velocity will work against the gravity and pull the moon farther. The science is simple but the implication of the moon leaving earth to lead to the extinction of life on earth. But we have about a billion years to come up with an escape plan, so no need to panic. The drifting is so small, in millimetres that we only notice nothing in a lifetime
