Heartfelt Farewell: Russell Wilson Honors His Beloved Dog Prince
Russell Wilson is said farewell to one of his beloved dogs.
In a social media post on Thursday, Jan. 16, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 36, announced the death of his dog, Prince.
"'Prince' Twelve years ago, you entered my life. "I got you my rookie year, and you've been a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs, and kisses from our four kids and us," the caption to his Instagram carousel read.

His cover photo featured him and his wife Ciara, 39, cuddling up on the floor with the dog.
Wilson previously told PEOPLE that their family consisted of three Great Danes and a "fierce" senior Maltipoo. They gave the vocalist of "Body Party" a new puppy named Bronco for Mother's Day in May 2022.
In addition to their pet babies, the NFL player and the "Goodies" singer are parents to Sienna Princess Wilson, 7, Win Harrison Wilson, 4, and Amora Princess Wilson, born on December 11, 2023.
Wilson previously told PEOPLE that their family consisted of three Great Danes and a "fierce" senior Maltipoo. They gave the vocalist of "Body Party" a new puppy named Bronco for Mother's Day in May 2022.
In addition to their pet babies, the NFL player and the "Goodies" singer are parents to Sienna Princess Wilson, 7, Win Harrison Wilson, 4, and Amora Princess Wilson, born on December 11, 2023.
Ciara also has a 10-year-old son, Future Zahir Wilburn, from her previous relationship.
"You will forever be a part of us," Wilson said of Prince, adding that Thursday "was a hard day" for their family.
The professional athlete also revealed that Prince overcame a lot in his 12 years, including beating cancer twice.
"Heaven has a good one!" Forever the Prince of Peace. "I love you," he concluded.
Wilson spoke to PEOPLE in May 2019 about the Banfield Foundation's Safer Together program, which aims to provide more assistance to pet owners in abusive situations. He warmly recalled how his dogs always joined themselves in family events, even when he and his wife wanted to have alone time.
"The great Danes just want to lie on your lap all the time," the football player told PEOPLE. "Ciara and I will be trying to have a date night, watching a movie, and all of the sudden there's three great Danes laying across our laps."
After remarking that his pets never missed an opportunity to cuddle, he stated that his purpose with the Banfield Foundation was "to help people through tough situations, [and] to make sure they feel safe and can keep their family together."
The Wilsons had already said "goodbye" to one of their pet kids before losing Prince.
Around the time the family got Bronco, whom her children dubbed "Bronco Love Brownie," the "Ride" singer remembered on her late dog Tyson by tweeting nostalgic photos and discussing how bittersweet it was to have a new puppy at home.
"It was hard to lose Tyson. I've owned him for over 17 years. "He will always be in our hearts," she wrote, sharing an old photo of her dog relaxing on her baby tummy.
