Biography & Grammy Glory : Meet Seni Saraki, the Rising Star Making Waves!
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Seni Saraki, the son of former Nigerian Senate President Bukola Saraki, won his first Grammy.

Seni, a London School of Economics alumnus, co-founded The NATIVE, a website that highlights African youth culture, in 2016.

He collaborated with famous musicians like Rema, Fireboy DML, Tems, and Burna Boy on the Nigerian portion of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack in 2023, demonstrating his impact in the creative business beyond journalism and content curation.

This year, the development of Bob Marley: One Love—Music Inspired by the Film, an album devoted to the renowned reggae artist, benefited greatly from Seni's creative creativity. A major turning point in Seni's career and a happy moment for Nigeria's expanding musical influence on the international scene, the project received the Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

The Grammy-Winning Soundtrack

New renditions of Bob Marley's iconic songs can be heard on the 17-track One Love soundtrack. It defeated fierce rivals like Take It Easy by Collie Buddz, Party With Me by Vybz Kartel, Never Gets Late Here by Shenseea, and Evolution by The Wailers.

In a sincere social media message, Bukola Saraki, the president of the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2019, likewise conveyed his delight in Seni's accomplishment.

Seni Saraki’s Reaction to the Win

Seni expressed his joy and gratitude for the chance to work on such a historic project in an interview at the Grammy Awards.

He remarked, "I mean, it's crazy," after considering his role. I was included in the project and assisted in connecting some of the artists, and they are very amazing. I've contributed to a soundtrack like this twice before. This staff is the greatest in the industry, and working with them has been incredible.

In February 2024, Bob Marley's Tuff Gong and Island Records released the One Love soundtrack. Seni emphasized the importance of reinterpreting Bob Marley's legacy and thanked the artists, producers, and engineers who worked together on the project.

“Thank you to all the amazing artistes, producers, and engineers brave enough to take on this project. Bob Marley is a legacy—an incredible, iconic artist. For them to take on these songs, reinterpret them, and make them their own—Bloody Civilian, Wizkid, Jessie Reyez, Daniel Caesar—they’re all incredible artists,” he added.

Daniel Caesar, Kacey Musgraves, Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Shenseea, Farruko, Jessie Reyez, Mystic Marley, Bloody Civilian, and Skip Marley all give strong performances of Marley's hits on the album.
