During an inspection trip of the 24.3km ECOWAS route project, Minister of Works David Umahi revealed this and promised the government would help the contractor, China Geo Engineering Company (CGC), to make the deadline.

Phase 1 alone now costs ?71 billion, while the project's overall cost, including Phase 2, is now anticipated to be ?145 billion. The project was first awarded in 2018 for ?63 billion.

Umahi also examined other Lagos infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Abeokuta Road, the Third Mainland Bridge, the Eko Bridge, and the Carter Bridge.
