Celebrate African Jazz: The Power of Unity at PF Music Concert
PF Music unites African talents at jazz concert
The African Jazz Series Concert 2025, an occasion devoted to presenting the continent's rich jazz legacy, was recently held by PF Music, an African jazz advocacy organization.

Top jazz performers from all across Africa came together for the performance, which was hosted at Terra Kulture on Victoria Island in Lagos State. It was a celebration of rhythm, culture, and musical creativity.

Peter Fisher, PF Music's managing director, stated in his welcome address that the concert was brought back to celebrate the beauty of African jazz in its most authentic form.

"Jazz is more than just music; it's a story, a movement, and an expression of Africa's rich cultural heritage," stated Fisher, better known by his stage name, the Bassman.

The fusion of jazz idioms with the diverse and varied cultural flavors that are present in almost every nation on the continent is what African jazz is, from the iconic jazz sounds of Fela Kuti and Hugh Masekela to the modern beats of African jazz fusion.

With musicians from all across Africa traveling to Lagos to perform (with Nigerian bands) their version of "our" jazz, African jazz, the event will be the first of many devoted to honoring just that.

The event showcased a new generation of jazz virtuosos while honoring iconic pioneers like Fela Kuti, Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, Abdullah Ibrahim, and Miriam Makeba.

The GHJazz Collective (Ghana) and the AFRO4 (Nigeria and South Africa) were two outstanding ensembles that represented the changing sound of African jazz at the inaugural concert.
