China Warns Trump Administration: 'If U.S. Wants Trade War Or Any Type Of War, We’re Ready To Fight Till The End

If trade conflicts between the United States and China persist, China has stated that it is prepared for economic conflict or any kind of war.

"The Chinese side will fight them to the bitter end if the United States... persists in waging a tariff war, trade war, or any other kind of war," said Lin Jian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Additionally, the Chinese Embassy in the US stated in a post on its X account on Wednesday that "consulting with China and treating each other as equals is the right thing to do if the U.S. truly wants to solve the #fentanyl issue."

"We are prepared to fight to the end if the United States desires war, whether it be a trade war, tariff war, or another kind of conflict."

The Trump administration's decision to raise tariffs on all Chinese imports from 10% to 20% was followed by this announcement.

Beijing responded with a 10% tariff on sorghum, soybeans, pig, beef, fish, fruits, vegetables, and dairy goods, and a 15% tax on U.S. agricultural products, such as chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton.

"The fentanyl issue is a flimsy excuse to raise U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports," Lin said, criticizing Washington's use of the crisis to justify tariff increases. We have every right and necessity to take countermeasures in order to protect our rights and interests.

"Instead of acknowledging our efforts, the U.S. has sought to smear and shift blame to China, and is seeking to pressure and blackmail China with tariff hikes," he continued, accusing the United States of penalizing China despite its efforts to help address the fentanyl crisis.

We have been subjected to punishment for assisting them. This will erode our counternarcotics cooperation and conversation and won't help the United States' situation."

In a parallel move, Canada responded to President Trump's new trade policies by announcing 25% tariffs on a variety of U.S. products.

According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada will apply charges on C$155 billion ($107 billion) worth of U.S. goods. The first phase will cover C$30 billion and will go into effect immediately, matching Trump's tariffs. The remaining C$125 billion will be subject to penalties over the next 21 days.

"Tariffs against Canada will put your jobs at risk, potentially shutting down American auto assembly plants and other manufacturing facilities," Trudeau warned Americans, warning of the repercussions of Trump's actions.
