Herdsmen: Timaya Raises Alarm Over Farm Destruction in Bayelsa
The reported destruction of farmlands by herdsmen in his home state of Bayelsa has alarmed Afrobeats singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, better known by his stage name Timaya.

He described the situation as terrible and urged the administration to act immediately.

Additionally, the Dem Mama crooner advocated for herders to switch to ranching and spoke out against open grazing.

Taking to his X handle on Tuesday, he wrote, “Pls the government should do something. They are destroying farms in Bayelsa. Aboki, take your cow inside and feed them. This is very sad.”

In order to preserve farmlands, a number of states, notably Benue, Ondo, and Ekiti, have outlawed open grazing throughout the years, but enforcement is still very difficult.

Residents like Timaya are concerned as Bayelsa, which is renowned for its abundant agricultural resources, now seems to be experiencing comparable threats.

Across the nation, the problem of herders encroaching on farms has long existed, resulting in violent conflicts, financial losses, and an increase in food shortages.

Timaya has already voiced her opinions on matters of national importance. He joined other celebrities in demanding a stop to police violence during the 2020 #EndSARS rallies.
