‘We lost lives, properties’ – Timaya narrates Odi massacre ordeal

Timaya, a Nigerian singer, has brought up the 1999 Odi massacre in Bayelsa, his home state.
According to him, the Nigerian Army attacked the town, which is primarily Ijaw, on the government's orders.
The artist emphasized that his mother ran a bakery in the village of Odi and that the massacre was also a personal experience.
He claimed that both lives and property were lost as a result of the military operation.
Timaya said that after singing about the Odi massacre in his 2007 hit song "Dem Mama," he was given the title of Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa.
