Inside the DSS Witness Account: Nnamdi Kanu and the Quest for Biafra"

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), reportedly desired the five South East states—as well as portions of Kogi and Benue states—to secede from the rest of Nigeria, according to a Department of State Services (DSS) official.
The official, who went by BBB, made this statement while appearing before Justice James Omotosho as the second prosecution witness (PW2) in Kanu's ongoing terrorism trial.
He testified behind a court-provided screen, stating that Kanu verified his actions during his statement and that the defendant's statement-taking session was captured on camera.

Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), the prosecuting attorney, introduced BBB into evidence by presenting him with a copy of a compact disc that he said included the tape of his conversation with Kanu.
Awomolo then applied to offer the letter from the AGF, the disc, and a certificate of compliance.
However, the defense's attorney, Kanu Agabi (SAN), contested the prosecution's request to tender the items, claiming that the defense had not received the AGF letter or the videotape.
Agabi said it was part of the entitlement of the defendant to be given copies of all documents and materials that the prosecution planned to rely on in pursuing the case.

According to Awomolo, he was prepared to provide the defendant with all the records and information the prosecution would like to use.
In his decision, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the defense had a right to all of the records and evidence the prosecution intended to use.
In accordance with Section 36 of the Constitution, Justice Omotosho then ordered the prosecution to serve the defendant with all papers, including those it plans to use as evidence in the case.
Awomolo requested that the case be postponed until May 7 so that the prosecution could provide the defense with the required paperwork and allow PW 2 to continue testifying.
