In relation to his recent public criticism of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), was subjected to a second day of questioning Tuesday at the EFCC headquarters.
According to SaharaReporters, VDM, who is well-known for voicing his opinions on national matters, is being questioned for remarks he made accusing the EFCC of corruption.
His attorney, Barrister Marvin Omorogbe from Deji Adeyanju's legal practice, was present during the multi-hour interrogation.
According to people acquainted with the situation, the session focused mostly on Otse’s social media posts and videos in which he alleged deep-rooted corruption within the anti-graft commission.

A source told SaharaReporters that Barrister Omorogbe appeared at the EFCC office at 10 a.m. and stayed until 3 p.m.
However, by the time Omorogbe left the EFCC building at 3 p.m., attempts to obtain bail for his client had failed.
Around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Adeyanju, one of his attorneys, told SaharaReporters that VDM was still awaiting release on bond and that they were "working on it."
Online discussions have been triggered by VDM's ongoing detention, with some advocating for his immediate release and others challenging the EFCC's willingness to tolerate criticism.
The EFCC verified VDM's detention in a statement released earlier Tuesday.

The Commission claims that VDM has been granted administrative bail and will be released upon fulfilling the terms of that bail.
The EFCC further stated that law enforcement took action after VDM consistently disregarded multiple invites issued to his known addresses and communication channels.
According to the EFCC, the petitions it received contained serious claims of financial crimes that need careful examination.
The agency disclosed that a legitimate remand order was acquired for his detention and upheld its legal authority to hold any suspect under investigation.
VDM's detention was not linked to his criticism of the EFCC, according to the agency.

"The Commission must acknowledge that it is aware of multiple unprotected attacks by the suspect against its activities. Although such behavior is unacceptable, the attacks did not lead to his incarceration. It stated that the appropriate law enforcement agency would be permitted to investigate them.
Additionally, the statement stated: "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, invited Martins Innocent Otse as part of its objective to address economic and financial crimes because of a number of petitions that made various allegations of financial crimes against him.
Despite multiple invites given to him via his known addresses and communication channels, he declined to attend. The petitions pertain to grave allegations of financial malfeasance which cannot be ignored by the Commission.”
