Nigerian gospel singer – UK police treated me as suspect after reporting robbery
After barely escaping a robbery attempt earlier this year, Nigerian gospel artist Muyiwa Olarewaju, who is residing in the UK, has described how he was treated as a suspect.

The presenter and worship leader described the February event, which happened at around 5:30 a.m. when he was traveling to work, in a video posted on his Twitter account.

He claimed that a young white male had broken the glass of his car in an attempt to break in. He called the police and reported the event, directing them to local surveillance cameras, once he had safely escaped and arrived at work.

Olarewaju stated, "I informed the police about the location of the cameras in that area, the fact that the man had broken my window, and the anxiety and everything that it caused."

But when the police started looking into him after seeing the camera footage, things took a surprising turn.

"As soon as the police contacted me, they started an investigation in which I was named as the suspect," he stated. "Yeah, I was the suspect now."

The musician clarified that he had to hire a lawyer to defend himself after being summoned in for questioning even though he was the one who reported the attack.

"I had to get a lawyer after they called me in for interviews and other things. Family in Hanson Woods is a blessing. The solicitors Hanson Woods are fantastic, and I heartily recommend them," he stated.

Olarewaju disclosed that although the young man who was caught on tape assaulting his car was never located by the police, he was looked into for affray, a charge usually associated with public altercations.

The young man captured on camera was never located by the authorities. However, I was being looked at for affray," he stated.

According to reports, the police dismissed the case because of insufficient evidence after a three-month inquiry.

They returned three months later with nothing to report. He continued, "They don't have any more evidence to support their charges against me, and they can't find the guy who attacked my car."

He cautioned the public to exercise caution and to be legally prepared in his closing remarks.

So, exercise caution. Additionally, have legal counsel on hand in case you encounter a similar situation if you don't currently have it. He continued, "I'm sure the police are doing a great job to maintain law and order, but sometimes things go wrong."
