During a special visit at the WYN Beauty x Shopify pop-up event in Los Angeles on Friday, April 11, 43-year-old Serena Williams explained why success is "very expensive" in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
The legendary tennis player and founder of WYN Beauty admits, "Yeah, it definitely costs a lot."

“I'm here [in California] without my kids, and that’s a big cost for me because I spend a lot of time with my children, and they’re very attached to me, which a part of me loves. So, it’s always some cost.”
Williams went on to say that the biggest expenses of her overall accomplishment and athletic career weren't even monetary. "Throughout my entire life, I've had to consider the costs involved in winning a championship." "Williams says." The time I spend with my family, friends, and relationships will all be negatively impacted. And they’re incredibly pricey. You have to decide if it's worth it for you.”
Williams went on to say that the biggest expenses of her overall accomplishment and athletic career weren't even monetary. The multi-hyphenate, who was born and raised in Compton and now resides with her family in Florida, attended the celebration to mark the one-year anniversary of WYN Beauty, which she started and introduced in April 2024.
Even though Williams has succeeded in almost every field she has pursued, both on and off the court, she says she has no intention of pursuing another significant business endeavor.
"I'm finished!" Williams laughs as he says that. “I'm not launching anything else like this. I simply enjoy working on WYN Beauty. In addition, I'm content with my venture business and being a mother, which is a lot. We're good!”

“It's super important for me to share that beauty is definitely on the inside,” Williams tells PEOPLE. Then everything that comes from the outside is just an extension of who you are. Thus, your inner beauty is enhanced by our attractiveness and the work we do at WYN Beauty.
At the L.A. event, her clean beauty brand's assortment of goods, which included lipsticks and 36 hues of SPF-containing skin tint, were on full show.
Games, swatching stations, and a picture booth with a tennis theme were among the interactive elements of the promotion for fans and influencers.

Regarding Williams' athletic achievements, she became a professional tennis player in 1995 and dominated the sport for the next 27 years until her retirement in 2022.
During the Open Era of the sport, Williams won the most Grand Slam singles titles of any woman with 23. She also captured 14 Grand slam doubles titles alongside her pioneering sister Venus Williams, and notched 327 Grand Slam match wins, another Open Era record.
