Rapper Erigga has made the case that women choose financial security over romance, with "love" being defined as having one's bills paid and "romance" as financial gestures.

He claimed on X that there aren't enough real partnerships in Nigeria, where a lot of women date more for survival than for a sincere emotional bond.

"Nigerian women are not deep," he wrote. They don't date for love; they date to survive. An purposeful man is hence wealthy. Romance is a financial gesture.

"Love entails paying their expenses." There is no relationship in what you people in Nigeria are doing.
