How Nigerian Troops Achieved a Major Victory Over ISWAP Commander

Troops from the Nigerian Army's Operation Hadin Kai have killed Abu Fatima, a top-ranking commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and one of Nigeria's most wanted terrorists.

Abu Fatima was the target of a ?100 million bounty. In Aleru village, Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State, he and two of his senior lieutenants were slain.

Earlier Friday, the Nigerian Army posted an official Facebook page confirmation of the operation.

Abu Fatima reportedly oversaw ISWAP's attacks in northern Borno, especially in the vicinity of the Baga axis. According to reports, he was apprehended alive but died from severe hemorrhage.

ISWAP operations in the area have suffered a significant setback as a result of this decisive operation, which also resulted in the recovery of motorcycles, AK-47 rifles, and bomb-making components.

Abu Fatima's passing is just as important to the people of Baga, Kukawa, Cross, Doro, and the surrounding districts where his group massacred farmers and fisherman as the execution of former Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau.

This accomplishment demonstrates the effectiveness of the Nigerian military's continuous efforts. An unsuccessful terrorist effort to infiltrate Damasak, a border town in northern Borno, yesterday resulted in the deaths of more than 60 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the last 48 hours alone.
