PMB Meets With Governors Over Paris Club Refunds

LEADERSHIP gathered that one of the primes in the agenda of the meeting is to seek the president’s approval for the final payment of N200 billion of the Paris Club refund.

A source who is privy to the meeting said the governors want to plead with the president to authorise the release of the last tranche to enable them fulfill their obligations.

“The governors are hoping that the president will authorise the final release of the Paris Club refund which is about N200 billion so that they can fulfill their obligations of paying salaries of workers, pensioners and other bills in the state”, the source who did not want his name in print said.

He recalled that when the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, led the forum’s delegation to London to visit the president, President Buhari thanked the governors for “holding Nigeria together in his absence”.
