Joshua Ikechukwu, a suspected online scammer, is accused of killing Salisu during an arrest operation in Anambra on Friday.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, stated in a statement on Sunday that the deceased officer was slain while performing a lawful duty.
Oyewale claimed that despite the detectives' "polite request for entrance," the suspect would not open his door after spotting them on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras placed at his door.
The statement stated that in the early hours of January 17, "Aminu Sahabi Salisu, assistant superintendent of the EFCC, along with other EFCC investigators, were at Dr. J.O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, to arrest some suspected internet fraudsters."
In accordance with operational procedures, the action was properly documented at the Nigeria Police's Anambra State Command Headquarters and Area Command.
"in first, the operation went smoothly, as 37 suspected online scammers were already taken into custody in a two-story building that housed Ikechukwu and other residents.

Nevertheless, Joshua Ikechukwu, who admitted to seeing the investigators on a CCTV camera installed at his doorpost, refused to open his door when they respectfully asked to enter his apartment.
"He went to shooting at the investigators in defiance of their introduction and physical sighting, killing Salisu and wounding another officer assigned to search his apartment."
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ikechukwu was involved in coding and online medical supplies of questionable legality, according to the EFCC spokesperson.
Two laptops, iPads, and a number of recording devices were found in his flat, he claimed, adding that the commission will try him even though they were in police possession at the time.
According to Oyewale, the committee "viewed irresponsible narratives on the fatal accident and faceless commentators supporting an alleged criminal with concern."
He went on to say that the anti-graft agency also expressed sympathy to the officer's family and valued the assistance of sister agencies and well-wishers.
"Reducing the death of a brave officer who was performing official and patriotic duties to social media razzmatazz is heinous," he stated.

The fact that some anonymous commentators are setting up camp with a suspected criminal who terrorized EFCC personnel while they were performing their duties is even more concerning.
"There is just no rationalization for a violent deed. The milk of human decency insists that the shenanigans of fabricated stories and speculations regarding the death of the murdered officer be spared a mourning family, commission, and country.
Additionally, the EFCC wants to warn the public that online fraudsters' actions are becoming blatantly dangerous for public security and safety.
According to intelligence, these criminals are armed and engage in a variety of violent crimes, including ritual killings, banditry, and kidnapping.

The general populace shouldn't give up or let themselves be tricked into thinking they are just "Yahoo boys and girls."
Regarding the EFCC, the full weight of the law will be applied to any more attacks on its officers. The Commission will not stand by and watch while any of its personnel are brutally murdered once more.
"The EFCC, a reputable law enforcement organization, is relentless in its efforts to purge the country of online fraud and other corrupt practices.
"As the Commission grieves the loss of its officer who gave their life in defense of the country, it is grateful for the priceless assistance, condolences, and swift action of sister agencies and well-meaning citizens who stood by it."
