Avoiding Political Pitfalls: What Akinyemi Wants Tinubu to Know About Trump

Bolaji Akinyemi, the foremost professor of political science, has urged President Bola Tinubu to avoid confrontation with Donald Trump, the freshly sworn-in 47th President of the United States.

"If I were President Tinubu, I would try to avoid antagonizing him because there is nothing a bully enjoys more than taking on people who are not strong enough to resist him," Akinyemi stated on Channels Television's Politics Today show yesterday.

"You know, there's an African saying that says if you're not strong enough to confront a bully and you do, you'll only suffer more as a result.
 

"That's the counsel I'll give President Tinubu: try to avoid confrontation with him, even if it means he does things that irritate you or jeopardize Nigeria's interests. There are non-confrontational approaches to address his reaction.
