PDP seeks Tinubu’s help to recover Edo secretariat
On Monday, the PDP demanded that President Bola Tinubu step in and reclaim its Edo State secretariat from the state's ruling All Progressives Congress.
Additionally, the PDP pledged to keep up its attempts to retake the contentious property at 59 Airport Road in Benin City, Edo State.
Timothy Osadolor, the PDP National Deputy Youth Leader, denounced the ruling party's actions as an attack on democracy.
Originally used as its secretariat, the building was invaded and taken over by the APC, according to a report published by the PUNCH last Thursday.

The property had been occupied by the PDP since Governor Godwin Obaseki defected to the party in 2020 after being disqualified from running for governor under the APC.
Osadolor accused the APC of repeatedly flouting the law.
He stated, “This country once upheld the rule of law and established protocols. But now, we’re witnessing irregularities that should never happen. Since the President himself has displayed contempt for the laws of the state, it is unsurprising that his party is following suit.
In actuality, these acts threaten our democracy. Although those in charge may believe they are exercising their authority, the people of this nation are worn out. If pushed too far, a single spark could ignite enormous upheaval.

"The Edo governor, supported by his cronies, has disregarded court orders to restore to the status quo and to refrain from acting in this manner. We have reported our situation to various security agencies and are currently in court. It is evident that the APC is determined to undermine democracy, even though these organizations assert that the situation is under control.
As the commander-in-chief, we want to draw Mr. President's attention to this matter. We think he knows what's going on in Edo State and the rest of the nation. He needs to control his group.

"I would advise PDP members in Edo to maintain composure and refrain from taking any actions that might make the situation worse. Like the night, I am convinced that this will also pass. Life will continue.
Efforts to obtain a response from the APC leadership in Abuja were unsuccessful.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, could not be reached by phone, and the National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, declined to comment, stating he had not been following the developments.
