The action comes after more than two-thirds of the 40-member Assembly impeached Obasa recently.

The Assembly's spokesperson, Olukayode Ogundipe, disclosed that the investigation will start as soon as Obasa returned to work.

In an interview, Ogundipe said, "There are other things we've been hearing about, including different amounts of money being spent by him." "We'll do something when he sits with us."

Ogundipe made a suggestion that either the Assembly's leadership may directly address the matter or that a committee might be formed to examine the claims.

He added that the probe would be guided by constitutional procedures and formalities.

Obasa Denies Allegations as Lagos Lawmakers Prepare Investigation

Obasa has denied the accusations as unfounded and his removal as unlawful. Obasa was impeached on January 13 for suspected financial offenses and misconduct.

Obasa insisted that his impeachment was not a formality and declared, "I remain the authentic Speaker."

Ogundipe, however, refuted these allegations, stating that the Assembly had behaved legally.

His removal was carried out in a constitutional manner. We planned to alter the guard, and the members are aware of what we witnessed," he stated.

Ogundipe emphasized that Obasa is still regarded as a member of the Assembly in spite of the continuing dispute.

We still consider Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to be one of us. Both the procedure used to bring him in and the procedure utilized to remove him were constitutional.

Obasa's return will determine the Assembly's next course of action, which might include additional internal investigations or an official petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
