Rock Legend Dave Mason Cancels All 2025 Tour Dates Due to ‘Ongoing Health Issues

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason said on Tuesday, June 3, that he will not be going on tour in 2025 because of "ongoing health issues."

A "serious heart condition" discovered during a regular medical check-up in September forced the 78-year-old guitarist, a founding member of Traffic, to postpone his fall 2024 tour. According to a press release, Mason "contracted a severe infection" in March and has "courageously" been fighting it ever since. He had wanted to travel in the spring and summer.

Mason issued a statement saying, "I regretfully have to cancel all of my 2025 tour dates due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I had in March." 

 “I’m incredibly grateful to my team of doctors—this has been challenging territory, to say the least.”

Refunds will be made available at the point of sale.

The singer of "We Just Disagree" also expressed gratitude to the venues, his family, band, and agents, as well as his fans, for their support over the past few months.

"Words cannot describe how much your wonderful messages have improved my mood. The road to recovery is long. Mason wrote, "You all have my undying love." "May God bless you."

Mason’s music career began in the 1960s. He appeared on Mr. Fantasy, Traffic's debut album from 1967. He composed the English rock group's song "Feelin' Alright?" and provided the lead vocals. The song would go on to become one of Joe Cocker's signature tunes. Mason also composed the popular song "Only You Know and I Know" by Delaney and Bonnie. In 1977, Mason recorded his own hit song, "We Just Disagree."

As a member of Traffic, Mason was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. In addition, he performed with Stephen Stills, Phoebe Snow, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash, the Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix.

Mason's 21st solo album, A Shade of Blues, was released in March of last year, and he also wrote his memoir, Only You Know & I Know.
