On February 27, 300 couples in the state will get married in a mass wedding sponsored by the Kebbi state administration.
In Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, Suleiman Argungu, the chairman of the organizing committee, informed reporters that the wedding was planned in association with the Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (NANAS), an NGO.
According to him, a number of committees have been established with specialized responsibilities, including testing for HIV/AIDS, pregnancy, genotyping, and other legal requirements for marriages in the state.
According to Mr. Argungu, the mass wedding was a fulfillment of Gov. Nasir Idris's pledge during the previous mass wedding that similar events will be done on a regular basis to help the less fortunate get married.
