Shehu sani criticizes senate’s summons of Brekete family CEO, calls it unnecessary

Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, has denounced the Senate's decision to call in Ahmad Isah, the CEO of Brekete Family Radio, about a broadcast featuring Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.

Ahmad Isa, also referred to as the Ordinary President of the Brekete Family, was called by the Senate to appear before or on February 27, 2025.

On Monday, he made this revelation in a post on his official X handle.

"It is needless and degrading to invite Ahmed Isah, the CEO of Berekete Radio, to the Senate," Sani said.

The summons coincides with the issue surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan's recent altercation with Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, regarding her seat assignment in the chamber.

After she objected to being moved within the chamber without warning, the Kogi senator said that the Senate leadership was planning to suspend her.

When she persisted on keeping her previous seat, the argument became heated, and Senate Chief Whip Tahir Monguno invoked Section 6(1) of the Senate Standing Rules, which gives the Senate President control over seating assignments.

Akpabio allegedly instructed the Sergeant-at-Arms to take her out of the room and muted her microphone during the altercation.

In an interview on Brekete Family Radio after the event, Akpoti-Uduaghan voiced her complaints.

After first responding, Akpabio did not return the show's calls when it tried to contact him for a reaction.
