Eleven alleged online scammers have been arrested in Niger State's Chanchangi Local Government Area by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's Kaduna Zonal Directorate.
The EFCC said in a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, “EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger,” that during the operation, agents found 13 mobile phones of different brands and two cars.
The statement stated that "credible intelligence linking the individuals to fraudulent online activities led to the arrests, which were executed in broad daylight at the White Hotel on Thursday, February 27, 2025."
The public was reassured by the EFCC that there were no instances of wrongdoing or kidnapping and that the arrests were handled professionally.
