Tinubu Government Recruits Foreign Military Experts To Train Nigerian Soldiers In Counterterrorism

The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, disclosed this during the launch of a training programme for 800 soldiers in Kaduna State. 

Elite international military professionals have been hired by the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to train Nigerian soldiers in specialized operations, with an emphasis on counterterrorism and hostage rescue.

This was revealed by Defense Minister Badaru Abubakar at the opening of an 800-soldier training program in Kaduna State.

In addition to training, he said, the government would provide the troops with weaponry and cutting-edge technologies to improve their capacity to counter security threats.

Abubakar stated, "800 soldiers will be trained for the program's first phase, with another 800 scheduled to follow."

He clarified that the choice to enlist outside specialists was required to combat terrorist organizations' constantly changing strategies.

While he would not reveal which nations provided the military specialists, he did acknowledge that they came from seven different countries.

He disclosed that 2,400 Nigerian soldiers would undergo the specialized training in the first phase alone before the initiative progresses to the second level.

According to the Daily Post, the minister also mentioned that the government's security initiatives were having a beneficial impact in some places, pointing to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State as an instance where calm had been restored.
