Residents are urged to protect themselves by BCDC Vanguard.

Following a string of devastating terrorist attacks that have taken over 20 lives in the last week, the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Vanguard has made an urgent call for local citizens to take proactive measures in defending themselves.

The BCDC denounced the actions of the attackers, who are thought to be Fulani militants, who have carried out several attacks on five villages in the Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA), in a press release released to journalists in Jos on Friday. The statement was signed by Farmasum Fuddang, chairman of the BCDC, on behalf of nine other people.

The group claims that on April 2, a coordinated attack that murdered over ten individuals in multiple areas, including Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai, marked the height of the carnage.

We have lost more than 20 community members in a single week as a result of these roving terrorists, who are actively eradicating five villages' ethnic and religious populations. They killed more than ten people on April 2 alone.

"Survivors stated that the Fulani-speaking assailants boldly attacked Mangor Tamiso at noon in broad daylight, then proceeded to Daffo and Manguna (Tagai) before invading Hurti and Tadai."

The BCDC Vanguard commended the Nigerian military and police for their quick response, which helped avert future losses, but highlighted that these forces' logistical limitations require a more proactive approach from the community.

The Vanguard advised all Bokkos residents to follow the counsel of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who recently advocated for increased self-defense measures among the locals.

"Many thanks to the Nigerian military and police for their prompt response to distress calls, which helped to reduce casualties." However, considering the logistical and manpower problems that these institutions face, we urge all Bokkos indigenes to follow Governor Caleb Mutfwang's advice and defend themselves. "If residents were willing to defend their communities, terrorists would not be able to carry out attacks with such impunity."
