The deaths of two unidentified movie actors in Owerri, the state capital, have prompted an investigation by the Nigeria Police Force's Imo State Command.

According to reports, the performers passed away on Friday after consuming wine and rice.

Four actors were reportedly sent to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri on Friday night, where two were declared dead upon arrival.

According to one Kaito Karisia, the film's director, who supplied the food and beverages, allegedly went to bed early, leaving the three women and four actors to party.

He reportedly found two actors already dead and the other two struggling for air when he got up early on Friday to switch from the power generator to the public power supply.

The two male actors who survived were receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Owerri, according to Karisia, who posted information about the event on his Facebook page.

"Their host (the film director) offered them rice, and everyone ate," he cited one of the survivors as saying. Later, he produced a bottle of wine and Calypso. They merely took a taste and did not drink farther.

On his Facebook page, he stated, "But the two other guys who are now dead finished the drink."

DSP Henry Okoye, the Command's spokesperson, verified the occurrence over the phone and stated that investigations had started to determine the incident's causes.

Two of the performers were confirmed deceased, while two others were receiving treatment in a hospital, according to Okoye, who called the incident "unfortunate and tragic."

"As I speak with you, Aboki Danjuma, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, has instructed a pathologist to test the two deceased individuals in order to determine the cause of death.

"The next course of action in the matter will be determined by the results," Okoye stated.
