K-DRAMA Shock: South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron found dead in Seoul apartment

Authorities reported on Sunday that 24-year-old South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was discovered dead at her apartment in Seongsu-dong.

Police revealed that a friend found her body at around 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT), according to BBC News on Sunday.

No evidence of foul play was discovered by investigators, and the cause of death is still being officially investigated.

Kim was considered one of the most promising young stars in South Korea when she started her career as a child actress.

She was born in Seoul in 2000 and became well-known for her performance in the Cannes Film Festival premiere of A Brand New Life in 2009. Later, she starred in the critically acclaimed thriller The Neighbour (2012) and the highest-grossing movie in South Korea that year, The Man from Nowhere (2010).

The 2016 television drama Mirror of the Witch and the 2014 film A Girl at My Door are two of her other noteworthy creations.

After a drunk driving incident in 2022, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023, Kim mainly disappeared from the public eye.

Although sources suggest that a large portion of her performance was cut out because of the issue, her most recent part was in the 2023 drama Bloodhounds on Netflix.
