Woman arrested in Spain for selling her baby to a family for 2000 euros
A 37-year-old Spanish mother has been charged with selling her child to a Cordoba family for 2,000 euros.

The mother and four other individuals engaged in the case have been arrested by the National Police, and the baby is currently in the custody of the social services department of the Junta de Andalucía.

When the mother herself filed a complaint in March of this year, the investigation got underway. She said that her newborn baby had been abducted by a Cordoba family, who then demanded 3,000 euros to return her to her.

The complainant claimed to have met a 24-year-old male at a Madrid party in November 2024.

She told him she was worried that if her kid was born in the capital of Spain, the social services would take her away. She was afraid since they had already deprived her of custody of her other six children.

The young man had offered to take her to Cordoba and care for her until she gave birth, according to the version she made up for the police. After giving birth, the complainant said she wished to return to Madrid with the baby, but the Cordoba family promised to take her there a few days later.

The mother went on to say that after a week had gone by and she still had not received her daughter back, she began to receive threats from the family in question, requesting that she pay 3,000 euros for her month-long stay in Cordoba in order to see her daughter again.

The woman had changed her account of what had happened, according to the preliminary findings. In actuality, it was believed that the biological mother had agreed to sell her daughter to a couple in Cordoba who were receiving reproductive treatments for 2,000 euros.

The investigators discovered that the complaint accompanied the purported buyers to the civil registry in Cordoba following their release. There, the newborn's biological mother and prospective "father" were identified as its parents.

After that, the man gave the mother the two thousand euros he had taken out of an ATM. This was followed by another family member taking her to Madrid.

The cops also learned that the mother's six other children had been removed from her after a 2022 court order determined that the children were being neglected. The Madrid region was given guardianship for all six of them.

The family wanted the return of the money they had paid the woman, along with an additional 1,000 euros to cover the costs of the month-long stay in Cordoba, because the investigation revealed that the woman regretted selling her daughter.

The mother and the four family members who purchased the infant were taken into custody by the National Police. On their way to a pediatric visit, the purchasers were stopped.
