14 year-old boy arrested for building a clock

Ahmed Mohammed, a 14 year-old high school student of MacArthur High School, in Irving, made a clock and brought it to school to the applause of his Engineering teacher, Minutes later, another teacher heard its beeping sound and alerted authorities believing that it was a bomb;
The homemade clock had a circuit board with wires leading to a digital display. Later, the boy was pulled out of class and interviewed by the school's headteachers and police officers. A head teacher also threatened to expel him if he did not write a statement. He was led out in handcuffs later, and put into juvenile detention. He was however released to meet his parents after he was fingerprinted.
However the social media is reacting strongly to this, with a hashtag #IStandwithAhmed.
