EFCC plans to extradite former minister Diezani

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed its plans to extradite Diezani Alison-Madueke to Nigeria over alleged corruption.

The former minister of petroleum resources who served during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan was accused of misappropriating funds as the EFCC continued its investigation into her dealings.

Ibrahim Magu who is the acting chairman of the EFCC confirmed this while addressing journalists, civic groups and others on Wednesday, September 13.

“I want you to know that nobody will go unpunished. We are even seeking to extradite Diezani, but investigations are still ongoing.

“We have reached a level where nobody can stop us in the fight against corruption, but we all must realise that we are all stakeholders, and this fight is for the future generation,” Magu said.

The acting EFCC chairman urged Nigerians to also contribute to the fight “because EFCC can only do its best; but we must support the agency, and the law should take its course, policies should be strengthened, and punishment must be meted out in good time.”

Magu blamed corruption for the various agitations for secession, strikes and civil actions in Nigeria.

According to reports, the EFCC boss made his comments while speaking on Wednesday September 13, at a parley with social media personalities in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
