Kidnappers Kill Father Clement, Dumps Body In Bush After Catholic Bishops Vow Not To Pay A Dime To Kidnappers

The Catholic Bishop's conference in Nigeria made a resolution that no form of ransom would be paid to anyone who decides to kidnap a Reverend Father. This came after the trend of Reverend Fathers becoming a soft target to kidnappers. But then we got a sad news this morning in Enugu about a kidnapped priest Rev.Fr. Clement Ugwu from Catholic Diocese of Enugu.

Rev.Fr. Clement Ugwu was ordained in 2010. He was kidnapped in the parish he was pasturing last week Wednesday. His decayed body was found in a bush today. He has been buried at the priest's cemetery in Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu State.

Indeed, the death of this priest is an immeasurable loss to Bishop Callistus Onaga and his diocese, considering what he was to him and indeed to the universal Church. However, may we find consolation in the good life he lived and the many contributions he made to the mission of the church.
