A video of one of the incidents shows the principal helping a young student get up and leave the court while directing the other youngster to follow suit.
Plaquemine Police Chief Stephen Engolio told WAFB that she continued to keep the children away from the action by flagging a mother who was passing by with "three kids in tow" and a friend.
The mother, who police have subsequently identified as Alessia Parker, was then told by the principal to "keep [her] kids off the basketball court" because "it disrupts the whole game," according to the police chief. Engolio told WAFB that Parker, 33, "obviously took offense with that," hinting at her response, which was captured on the security camera.

The mother, who was carrying one child on her hip and clutching the other child's hand, becomes noticeably agitated in the courtroom video, approaching the principal. The principal then raises a hand and places it on Parker, who then seems to strike the teacher in the head right away.
Engolio described the confrontation as follows: "[Parker] just punched her, knocked her out of her chair, and [the principal] puts her hand up to kind of keep her off her."
According to WAFB, an Iberville Sheriff's Department deputy who was there at the game intervened right away to end the altercation between the two women. However, the principal was affected by Parker's punch.
According to WAFB, she was rushed to the hospital after police reported that she had a "busted lip" and a head injury. The next day, she was able to resume her job, according to WBRZ, another Louisiana affiliate.
Engolio added of the teacher, "It was a pretty brutal attack, but she's okay now."
According to WAFB and the Plaquemine Post South, Parker turned herself in the following day, and Plaquemine Police arrested her and charged her with felony charges of resisting officers, disturbing the peace, and battery of a school instructor.
PEOPLE's request for response on Sunday, January 19, was not immediately answered by Plaquemine Police or the Iberville Sheriff's Department.

According to the Plaquemine Post South, Jemecia Godchaux, another lady who was reportedly involved in the incident, was also taken into custody.
Engolio told WAFB that Godchaux, 37, was "kind of egging it on, made some threats, and was cussing people out, too," referring to her as Parker's "cohort." Video of Godchaux's participation in the fighting was not made public by the broadcaster.
According to the Plaquemine Post South and WBRZ, Godchaux was arrested and police stated that she also had at least one other outstanding bench warrant.
Dr. Louis Voiron, the superintendent of the Iberville Parish School Board, told both media that the Louisiana educational system "would not tolerate the type of behavior" that Parker and Godchaux displayed during the basketball game.
