In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, Agu declared, "Yemi Alade, you are a queen; the queen you think you are."
"She obviously won my heart, even though she didn't win the Grammy. I, Chief Chiwetalu, will give you your flowers while you can still smell them if no one else is around to say it," he continued.
"Not only did she represent Afrobeat, she also represented the African culture through her attire at the Grammy Awards," he continued, adding that her choice to dress in traditional African garb highlighted her pride in her origin. She wasn't there to make an impression. She was screaming, "I didn't come to impress you," with her attire. I am aware of my origins.

"Do we talk about how decent and natural she has been as an artist?" the actor asked, praising the "Johnny" crooner for her exceptional characteristics beyond her singing. Or how talented, disciplined, restrained, established, and modest she is as a lady, or how lovely she is as a woman?
"Yemi, you continue to serve as an inspiration to countless young girls. You are highly loved and admired by Chief Chiwetalu. I hope you discover your "Johnny" at the ideal moment.
Alade wrote, "I'm not gonna lie," in reaction to the video, expressing her gratitude for it. An entire bag of onions is being chopped by someone. God bless you, sir.

For her song "Tomorrow," Alade received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category.
She posted on Instagram on Monday, saying, "This is my first time attending the Grammys as a nominee."
But with her song "Love Me JeJe," Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, from Nigeria, won the prize.
