I spend up to N7 million on my dramatic entrances – Pretty Mike
Pretty Mike, whose real name is Mike Nwogu, is no stranger to controversy.

The Nigerian businessman, socialite, and co-owner of Club Uno in Lagos is well-known for his flashy, frequently extravagant event entrances that spark conversation.

Pretty Mike is shamelessly himself, from attending weddings with women on dog leashes to accompanying six women with infants, but it has a price.

He feeds on shock value as one of the most talked-about social personalities in Nigeria. He continues to live his life as he pleases, from making grandiose appearances to denying charges of occultism, and he has no intention of stopping.

Pretty Mike discussed the cost of his dramatic appearances, the reasons behind them, and his answer to those who accuse him of fetishism and occultism in an interview with DoroTV.

Why the controversy?

When questioned if he had a message behind his opulent entrances, the businessman clarified that it is straightforward: he wants to stand out and attract attention.

"I believe I'm merely attempting to attract attention. He added, "I'm also trying to help the audience and do something unique, something that other people don't do."

It takes skill to pull off these spectacular performances. The club owner disclosed that he occasionally shells out millions of dollars to realize his ideas.

"To be honest, I haven't taken the time to figure it out, but whatever it takes to carry it out, sometimes it's five, six, or seven million naira," he said.

Addressing allegations

The controversial stylist has often been accused of fetish or occult practices due to his strange exploits. However, he is unfazed by the criticism.

He said, "I just check my bank account, and if there are no debits, I'm good."

The socialite said, "I'm one in tune with my God," dismissing any spiritual consequences for his behavior. I have no fear of anything. I have a clear head. Both my conscience and my thoughts are clear.

Love, marriage

Even though he doesn't believe in love, Pretty Mike has unexpected plans for the future, including getting married.

The businessman said, "I will soon get married, but I don't believe in love."

He responded, "For me, it's all about respect, understanding, and God," when asked what qualities he looks for in a spouse.

He left it up to the imagination as to whether or not he would make a grand entry at his wedding.

Legal pitfalls

Legal threats and public indignation seem to have no effect on the socialite. He gave a direct response when asked if he believed there was ever a time when he might cross the line:

"I'm anticipating that."

And if he ever finds himself in legal hot water? "I'm excited about it," he remarked, laughing. "We're ready to go."

When Pretty Mike went to events in January 2017 with ladies wearing dog collars and treated them like dogs, it infuriated the public. Authorities in Lagos State arrested him as a result of his acts, and he later apologized publicly.

He made waves once more in June 2021 when he attended a wedding where six bridesmaids were all pregnant. Questions over the children's paternity and the message he was attempting to convey were raised by this odd behavior.

He was arrested in March 2021 at a nightclub in Cuba for allegedly breaking COVID-19 regulations. He continued to play a significant role in the entertainment industry in spite of his scandals. He opened Proxy Lagos, an upscale nightclub, in December 2024 with the goal of revolutionizing the city's nightlife.

At the 40th birthday celebration for famous stylist Yomi Casual in January, the socialite sparked yet another issue. There were arguments about whether or not Pretty Mike's antics were suitable when he showed up with two women holding what seemed to be human heads.

In addition to his extravagant public personas, Pretty Mike is a businessman who owns a logistics firm that specializes in the delivery of textiles. He graduated from the European American University in the Republic of Panama, Central America, in 2021 with a PhD in business management and corporate governance.
