Scandal Alert: High-Society's Aisha Achimugu Flees Nigeria Amid Massive Fraud Investigation

DoroTV has learned that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured an arrest warrant against businesswoman Aisha Achimugu in order to declare her sought for alleged investment scams and money laundering.

It is thought that Ms. Achimugu, a close acquaintance of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, left Nigeria after being scheduled to appear before EFCC interrogators on March 5.

Investigators found that sometime between Thursday, March 6, and Friday, March 7, she fled Nigeria.

This publication was informed of the development on Sunday by top anti-graft officers, who begged not to be named because they were not authorized to speak to the media about the issue.

Following the socialite's noncompliance with the commission's invitation on March 5, the EFCC acquired an arrest order from the court.

An EFCC source stated that "Achimugu would soon be declared wanted by the commission," and that her departure from the country was a betrayal of the confidence that the agency had given her earlier in the month that she would accept their invitation.

In the meantime, David Abakpa, posing as Ms. Achimugu's assistant, started a public campaign last week in an attempt to stop the EFCC from arresting her.

In a widely shared message, Mr. Abakpa said he was reacting to rumors that Ms. Achimugu had been arrested by the EFCC that had been circulating on social media and on two websites.

The statement, which insisted that his boss's imprisonment was the result of dishonest elements, acknowledged that Ms. Achimugu had departed the country.

"Mrs. Achimugu is not in the country and so could not have been arrested by the EFCC," he added, further urging the public to ignore the "fake news."

"It is an enemy-sponsored deception! The EFCC never detains or arrests Aisha Achimugu. Mr. Abakpa continued in the statement, "Anyone can confirm from the commission."
 

DoroTV revealed on January 24, 2024, that Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu took time off from work and only returned to Nigeria after celebrating Ms. Achimugu's fiftieth birthday with days of partying on the Caribbean island of Grenada.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu arrived on the Caribbean island in a private plane and settled into one of the priciest resorts on the planet.

Many government personnel were unaware of the governor's whereabouts for days while he was away for the party. Some informed this publication that he was traveling overseas, while others claimed he was in London for an official engagement.
