Today, the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH, and the end of the Ramadan fast, Nigerian Muslims are joining their colleagues around the world.

Following confirmation of the new crescent of Shawwal's sightings around the nation, Dr. Sa'ad Abubakar, the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, issued the proclamation last night.

He claimed that within hours of Saudi Arabia, the location of some of Islam's holiest sites, announcing the sighting of the moon in their country, claims of moon sightings were received from Muslim leaders and organizations throughout the nation, as well as the Emirs of Borno, Zazzau, Daura, and Kwandu.

Makinde felicitates Muslims, tasks them to imbibe lessons of Ramadan

Oyo State Governor  Seyi Makinde felicitated the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan,noting in particular their endurance, faith, sacrifices and trust in Allah throughout the month.

He  charged them to continue to uphold “ these values; continue to pray and support the government at all levels and to continue to work with us to sustain the religious harmony we are enjoying in Oyo State.”

His administration,he said,remained committed  to putting  the people’s interest first and developing the  state in a sustainable way.

But he warned that this could only be achieved in an atmosphere of religious harmony and tolerance.”

Gov  Bago urges Muslims to sustain worship of Allah

Governor  Umar Bago of Niger State urged the Muslim Ummah to uphold dedication in the worship of Allah beyond the Ramadan period.

He congratulated the Muslim Ummah across the globe, on the successful completion of the 2025 Ramadan and the Eid-Fitr celebration.

The governor reminded them  that the teachings of Quran and Hadith, centred on peace, love, discipline, and humility.

He  added that the worship of Allah was not only observed during Ramadan fast, but for lifelong.

Principles of charity, empathy, devotion must remain with us ,says Radda

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State stressed the need for  Muslims to uphold the virtues of patience, compassion, and self-discipline cultivated during Ramadan.

“As we mark the end of this sacred month, I urge all Muslims to continue embodying the virtues of patience, compassion, and self-discipline practised during Ramadan,” he said.

“Let these teachings guide our actions beyond the holy month as we strive to build a more harmonious society.

“The principles of charity, empathy, and devotion should remain with us throughout the year.

“Our collective prayers are powerful instruments for positive change.

“Let us continue to seek divine intervention in overcoming the challenges facing our dear state and country.

“May Allah accept our worship and grant our prayers for peace, unity, and progress,” Radda said.

Barau too

Deputy Senate  President Barau Jibrin  prayed that  Allah SWT might  accept the supplications, prayers and the good deeds of the Ummah offered during the Ramadan.

He urged all citizens to continue praying for the country and to lend their full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he addresses the nation’s challenges.

He reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to enacting necessary legislation to support the President’s efforts.

The Deputy President of the Senate, expressed optimism that the newly established regional development commissions in North West, North Central, South East, South West, and South-South will significantly contribute to developing the country’s regions.

Lawan prays for Tinubu, urges Nigerians to shun divisive tendencies at Eid-el-Fitr

Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan said Ramadan has once  again reminded the Muslim Ummah the virtues of patience, compassion, and generosity.

“Through fasting, prayers, and charity, we have strengthened our faith and renewed our commitment to the values of peace, unity, and love for humanity,” he said.

“As we rejoice today, let us carry forward these noble teachings beyond Ramadan and continue on the path of righteousness.

“To my fellow Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, I urge us all to embrace the lessons of Ramadan —tolerance, kindness, and solidarity.

“Our nation is facing challenges, but together, with unity of purpose and collective resilience, we shall overcome.

“Let us reject division and work towards a peaceful, prosperous Nigeria where every citizen is treated equally.

“I specially pray for our nation and the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his administration. May Allah (SWT)  grant him wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he leads Nigeria through this critical phase of development.

“I pray that the blessings of this season bring progress and renewed hope to our beloved country. May Allah (SWT) accept our acts of worship, forgive our shortcomings, and grant Nigeria lasting stability and development.”
